Marshall has actively been involved in civic engagement in various roles, such as being a Deputy Field Organizer for Governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2018 and later serving as the Community Relations Director for Kyra Harris Bolden’s groundbreaking campaign in 2022. Kyra Harris Bolden made history and became the first Black woman to serve as a justice of the Michigan Supreme Court.

Marshall is a dedicated leader in Michigan’s environmental and social justice movements, known for his thoughtful coalition-building and community-first approach. He currently serves as the movement building coordinator at the Michigan Environmental Council, where he works to build a strong, inclusive, and collaborative environmental movement across the state. In this role, Marshall partners with nearly 100 member organizations involved in environmental advocacy, supporting statewide efforts and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the network.
Previously, Marshall served as the director of engagement at the West Michigan Environmental Action Council. There, he worked directly with local communities to promote climate justice, sustainability, and environmental resilience. He led grassroots initiatives to address urgent issues such as climate change, water quality, and air pollution, while advocating for fair and effective environmental policies at every level of government.

He continues to bring people together across Michigan to take meaningful action for the environment and ensure that historically underrepresented voices are heard and valued in the movement.

Additionally, Marshall has made valuable contributions to nonprofit organizations dedicated to LGBTQ+ rights and played a key role in coordinating Michigan’s annual rally to raise awareness about domestic violence.
